Every character is a cardboard cut out which makes it really inconvenient to be barraged with characters and cutscenes you don't care about. There is 0 nuance to the story; it is literally kindergarten picture-book garbage. There was potential for the Lusamine family stuff to be interesting but the shallow characterization of literally everyone completely ruins it. Guzma especially could've been much better but all of that is from fucking FLAVOR TEXT. A story is not told through flavor text, it is told through dialogue which Sun and Moon has in spades. Hours and hours of stiff, robotic dialogue with the exception of a few characters which compared to Black and White was a major downgrade. So it doesn't matter that compared to most of the other games that the plot or the story is more """competent"""" when it still fucking sucks and is put at the forefront of the game while bogging everything else down.
