Alola, while being one of if not the worst game, has the best pokemon designs in the entire series

There isn't a single design in this batch that has made it into my top favorites, and there are probably more Pokémon here that I outright dislike than in any other batch. I do like Oranguru and Wishiwashi but I don't love them a lot.

Black and White have one of the best regions (towns, cities, routes) of the whole series, but the 5 gen pokemon look like absolute shit, worse designs in the entire franchise except for Reshiram and Zekrom

These are the only lines I like, everything else ranges from boring to I hate it, with far too many being in the hate category. This is still the worst set of starters we've gotten yet and designs like Tsareena/Salazzle really show that there was some massive degenerate on the design team.

This is how I feel about its soundtrack too, except it's mostly just unmemorable, with the good tracks being really fucking good. I feel the same way about Sinnoh. The themes that are good are amazing, everything else is forgettable as fuck or has the bad soundfont.

Meltan, Passimian, Laurantis, Incineroar, Rowlet, Alolan Ninetales, Alolan Marowak, Golisopod, most of the UBs... very good pokémon but also some of the trashiest, such as Bruxish, the crab, the Koala not evolving, the fighting dragon, the bird, Popplio line and Donald Trump.

X and Y were passible. Not great, not terrible, but alright. You could tell that it had some effort put into it, much more than with gen 7 and 8. Still the easiest games and highly forgettable, but the big dex leads to some surprisingly good replat value.

Gen 7 mons have deffinately grown on me as of late. Sylvally and the Ultra Beasts in particular.
I also really love Ultra Necrozma, he's one of the best in the series IMO and I wish they brought him back for Swoosh

I really don’t understand the hate for S/M. Yes, the handholding and cutscenes drag the fuck out of the game, but everything else is quite good. It easily shits on Kalos and Galar.

I also love the Pokemon from this gen, although felt there were too many legendaries.

I love ultra lightfucker and wish he was an actual Pokemon instead of a de facto Mega Evolution that relies on *two* now-defunct gimmicks to exist. Also, I really like the Ultra Beasts in general. I don't know if that one's actually unpopular, but I see a lot of shitting on/dismissal of them on this board, so whatever.

I don't *hate* any of the starters (except the Scorbunny line) but the last time I felt actual attachment to any new starters was gen 4. And I found BW2 to be completely unremarkable as far as Pokemon games go. Battles are slightly better than average, Pokemon distribution is slightly worse than average, overall meh experience.

USUM, when divorced from the context of the originals' quality and frame of release, are some of the best games in the series. The additional challenge, adding of extra optional areas on top of base SM's, the actually decent postgame content and events peppered all over the region, and the amazing mon distribution all combine to make an extremely solid package. The biggest pitfall is the cutscene amount relative to the bog-standard, boring story.

A big draw of Pokémon games is replay value. Sun and Moon are a complete chore to replay because of the unskippable cutscenes and extreme railroading.
I enjoyed Sun and Moon well enough on my first and only run, but I have no desire to ever touch the games again, which is something I couldn't say for any of the games that came before it.

Same. I enjoyed my run but replaying it is a pain in the ass.

XY and SS are way more replayable than it. And that's too bad because I agree with 45452460, the games are quite good. Just less fun.
