Unno is based and has nothing to do with how bad this shit was implement, it was once again Masuda's fault in an interview he literally said outright the decision to lock challenge mode was because some bullshit like he didn't want kids to accidentally pick it and then truggling to complete the game

Due to the changes in exp gain that gen 5 added (you get a boosted amount of exp based on how much higher you opponent is than you) you often aren't underlevelled at all, the hard mode would have had a much, much more profound effect if it was in any of the generations prior. Most of the difficulty in challenge mode comes from the better items/ai

Just finished a challenge mode run after learning you could just unlock it with a code on emulators
It was harder than normal but nothing unmanageable, way more fun though, it should've been normal mode to begin with
