>>45450239>>45448721>>45448882>>45448682When you take the game at face value gen 1 is not very good. But its more what gen 1 offers that makes it great they are the best game to do arbitrary runs in. Be it speed runs, races, randomizer bingos because they are the least restrictive in terms of "story" based road blocks. It gets even better with the QoL rom hacks that introduce run or allow you to spawn in other locations like safari or silph.
It's also very fun to mess around with the numerous glitches in the game, missingno, trainer fly, brock through walls, glitch city, etc. The game is fun because its a broken mess. Which is a lot more than you can say any post DS era game.
FRLG are atrocious games because theyre essentially just the shitty parts of gen 1 with a slower pace. The Sevii islands offered little to no worth. The only good things about FRLG are nostalgia and the fact that it expanded the dex past 200 from RS + Colosseum
