Even without bringing up the infamous slap in the face that was the Battle Frontier nod, there's leaving out a huge QoL feature introduced that same gen for being "too out of place" in Hoenn, while copypasting a french mansion in place of even a plain old Battle Tower.
The character redesigns were the worst. Rather than being respectful to the original(and maybe making a nod to PokeSpe since the RS arc is relatively well liked) they completely redesigned all of the major characters in Aqua and Magma. They're not modernizations, they're straight up brand new characters entirely. And then another brand new character proceeds to shit up the lore of the entire franchise with Zelda style timeline cancer.
Or how about just handing Lati@s right over to you with a shiny new mega stone rather than saving it for the postgame like the original? There was no care for what the latis were meant to be in RS.
Or what about the absolute ridiculous way they handled extra legendaries? Rather than even try to integrate at least SOME of them into the region a la HGSS, they just shoved them in through Hoopa rings. Without actually making an in-game Hoopa event to tie it all together.
