The only reason people all of sudden think these games are good is because all the games that followed were a steaming pile of shit that makes it look good in comparison.

They were good, just not my thing, i prefer a less story focused game like HGSS
At least by making it more linear the level curve wasn't as terrible

Meh i tried, but i still think that Team Plasma and the gen5 team was a breath of fresh air for trying to step more deeper in the RPG genre, maybe you don't like it, but it could have made an impact in the Franchise about how the histories are written.

No one plays Pokémon for the story. If it didn’t have the Pokémon brand name it would just be another forgettable and basic story out of Japan. It’s not like it can’t be done, games like Chrono Trigger are talked about years later for their story, in addition to their gameplay, and for good reason. You are blinded by nostalgia or have a lack of experience with actual good stories and people like you are why we’ll never see any improvement in the Pokémon games because they’re satisfied with the most barebones and basic stories.

I think you didn't quite understand what I meant. I know that everything in Pokemon is outdated in relation to other RPG's since the first generation, everything I talk about good or bad things in the games are in this big bubble of the franchise, since if I tried to compare it to any other serious title is like trying compare a bicycle with a car. I just said that gen5 could be the beginning of something better for the franchise.

It's worse honestly. Its actually because you couldn't catch these older pokemon till post game and these man children had a huge tantrum that they couldn't use them sooner. Its why these games now force these overdone gifts such as unique pikachus and charizard to the players now. Hell I wouldn't be surprised its why we got two starters in XY via the Kanto starters.

I honestly feel gen 5 was the peak of the series and while I did enjoy XY, it clear gen 6 was the start of doing just the absolute bare minimum because it was just enough to keep afloat using this overused shit.
