Now that the dust has well and truly settled.
How was it?
Should I watch it proper or just youtube the highlights?

The characters were meh
The pokemon looked pretty good by keeping them cartoony but also bringing realism to them.
Glad it wasn't Gen 1 pandered, there were some pretty cool scenes with some pokemon.
The storyline was sorta predictable, even if you haven't played the games.

So yeah, wasn't the worst but wasn't the best, it's a nice movie to watch.

oh also, I love Ryan Reynolds but I don't think he suited being Pikachu, he was acting too much like Deadpool so it was sorta hard to get into it.

It really wasn't. The movie is the better experience of the Detective Pikachu story by a long shot. Script could be better though, Sonic beats it in that regard if we're comparing adaptations.

I like how respectful it was, cause you can easly go south and mock the logic and shit like a bad youtube pokemon parody "hurr durr dark story animal abuse" and as cheesy the villain is it's still enjoyable

It's okay and fun to watch. Just see the whole thing since it's nothing special. Its only real accomplishments are being one of the first decent video game movies and making Mouseshills seethe for a good week.

I love how they made mons looks ok irl just by giving them realistic textures like fur or feathers etc while overall shapes aren’t changed at all
