VGC player here. It's really weird. I played back in XY/ORAS and am well familiar with a Nat Dex meta. I hated, HATED how big non-restricted legends were in the metagame. Now though? I'm actually perfectly content with the Ubeasts, birds, genies, etc coming back. Fini at 50% means you have to fight for terrain and otherwise can't burn/paralyze, but other than that I actually don't feel bad. I guess since I endured the CHALK meta and skipped the OP Tapu years I'm in the golden age.
That said I also didn't mind IoA VGC. A little too many Cinderace, Incineroar and Rillaboom running around, but otherwise it really wasn't bad. I'm at a loss if I like this meta more or less, but since I don't hate the demi legends running around I honestly have been loving VGC since S1 of SwSh. Amoongus wasn't even that bad because every team either ran Rilla, Whimsicott, or their own Amoongus.
I'll be real with you lads, the biggest problems of gen 6 were CHALK and Smeargle. We don't have any of that. I do not look forward to Smeargle's return, and I can only theorize that is exactly why he hasn't come back yet. He will one day though.
