He even ends up becoming your best friend but he will never stop being your rival until he beats you fairly as the ultimate test of his skill.

Why do people get a serious hard-on for asshole rivals? Nothing but shitty hatesink characters that don't even rival you in anything (much like friendly rivals), but because they're one-dimensional assholes, that suddenly makes them good? And no, this is not a justification for friendly, feelsbad "rivals", either.

He's not perfect, and I hate the switch to fairy type, but I still think he's one of the better rivals we've had. He's a fun character.
