>>45476805Great for the first 3 generations, after that it started being obvious that GF didn't have any real reason for it besides tradition, and the designs started suffering from the lack of inspiration. Gen 4 starters were still okay despite this, gen 5 starters flopped hard, and ever since they are just committee designs meant to appeal to as many people as possible by appealing to lowest common denominator focus groups.
From a balance perspective, Fire has always been imbalanced, since the other two are very common types, while Fire is very rare, so except in cases where the Fire starter is a shitmon or one of the others is a god, you are literally always better off taking the Fire starter, even if one of the others is better by direct comparison.
