I like about maybe 50-60 pokemon families for the first 4 or so Generations, and I'll use older gen pokemon in more recent gens. I just recently learned how much I love Granbull in a gen 6 playthrough.
I only like a handful of Pokemon 5 to 8, and I usually heavily lean towards 1 type per Gen. Gen 5 for example has some really good fighting and dark types. I'd probably have two or three of both types, including Scrafty
