What would be the point? Only "prequel" I'd be interested is going back it time to like before the technology in the Pokemon world was super hi tech and fancy, and like what they did before poke balls, or at least before poke balls were wide spread or something. No way that ever happens though.

It would make the inevitable next time they redo RGBY better if they shifted the timeline with Oak and Agatha as your rivals. But outside of that I'd prefer >>45496839's suggestion of a new region but set before any of the previous games.

Pokémon as story-based games will never work because of their main point is the "exploration" if they have nowadays. I'm pretty sure it will feel like the parts of BW Unova that can be travelled in the "story" of B2W2.

Agreed, which is why it's more in quotes. There are very few like pre ideas I'd be interested in. At best maybe the days of original Kyurem or at least the original dragon from Gen V, and maybe the ancient war from XY that AZ was from. There isn't really many other things that really feel the need or want to explore.

This, the only way to make a story heavy Pokémon game is simply do a spin off without the silent protagonist (heck it may even have to be a pure single player game) as that severely limits the interaction/ story the player character can have with other characters solely because the design philosophy of Pokemon’s silent protagonist is to be a self insert and fundamentally it means they have to remain neutral otherwise the self insert falls apart.
