>>45503693I am fairly optimistic in that regard.... Or was till Gen 8.
I took XY as a temporary crash in quality that was excusable as "first 3d venture" which ORAS in my opinion rescued. Yes, it may have controversial changes, like the Battle Frontier exchanged for the local XY gimmick castle, but that was more or less understandable. At least at that time.
Gen7 was an pretty experimental time, the first time that the new team introduced with ORAS had full free range, and i liked the Delta Episode. Trials were badly executed, cutscene Spam, Rotom Dex, but i liked the Aether Family story. The overall games
I once again dismissed the faults as "New Team, let them try out themselves"
For USUM, I was pretty disappointed in having it the same, but the Ultra Necrozma plot washing away key elements of the Aether Family story was a sour note. They still seemed like good and enjoyable games to me.
Lets skip over LGPE, cause i didnt play those really (only a few minutes after getting them from the local library, which is cool)
Sword and Shield kinda feel a kick in the guts for me, if it comes quality wise.
I am still okay with the dexit, cause out of the box, it is the same experience as any other game, the sole difference that you cant transfer anything over.
Storywise, there was a story? I hated the constant "let the adults do this" reminders which only then resolved in you raiding EMax-Eternatus.
Graphic wise and mapwise, i would count the Alola better than Galar.
The games have been enjoyable, but are maximally flawed, the worst modern Pokemon games.
In a sense though, i also have to say that the DLCs redeemed my hopes for a next game. I liked the structure of them and hope that will continue. But I will be pessimistic this time around.
I cant bear the thought on how they will mishandle any remake/region possible. No matter if it were Johto, Sinnoh or Unova or anything.
