How do you guys feel about the decision to combine cross-gen evos with regional variants

Generally positive, since not giving a regional variant of a pokemon with mega evolution was a missed opportunity in gen 7(that they probably won't capitalize on with G-Slowbro). Some pokemon needed a crossgen evo more than a variant like Farfetch'd, but there's enough overlap that it doesn't hurt too much. I feel like it works better for some pokemon than others and would shine best alongside standard crossgen evos, like a better balanced version of how they still made Sylveon even though mega evolutions were the focus.

Good and I like many of the designs, especially Cursola, but it would have been even better if the originals got their own separate evos as well. We got regular regional variants still, regular evos would only have been fair.

Corsola could have a coral reef evo, Mr. Mime could do the old age again but this time more of a creepy clown, and Meowth for example would be fine since Persian exists.

Mostly fine.
The thing that annoys me is regional forms that don't have entire lines, so you're locked out of things like Alolan Marowak and Galarian Weezing outside those regions (whereas breeding A-Meowth can yield A-Meowth offspring regardless of where you are).
They should make the regional food items (Pewter Crunchies, Big Malasada) force regional evolutions or something.

Cursola and Ice Darmanitan are two of my favorite new pokemon, and I like the idea of regional variants in general, but I wish it didn't mean that we're probably never getting normal crossgen evos again. Like others have mentioned, some pokemon would benefit more from a non-regional evolution. In particular, I'd prefer to see more two-stage pokemon get a third evo rather than a second branching two stage but I guess they're not allowed to do more of those since it was gen 4's gimmick and so many people hated most of the results.

Interesting in theory, but now with the exclusive evos what ends up happening is the original mon being outclassed. They should give evos to both forms, so things like base corsola being entirely outclassed due to no eviolite don't happen.

They're great. Maybe not ideal, since it kind of shafts the original Pokémon and some people would prefer a totally unique line, but the Pokémon themselves are good and it definitely gives them more character than Alola's variants.

They should still backtrack and give the base ones evolutions as well. Like Fetch'd should get a fast frail Normal/Flying Physical Attacker that gets either Sniper or Super Luck. Linoone should get a daytime Normal/Fighting evolution that has identical stat spread to Obstagoon etc.

Its a start to help fix long term issues with both going forward, but it doesn't help the original versions of mons getting completely eclipsed by the new regional versions especially those that reek of hindsight regret like not making gen 1 muk dark/poison in gen 2 onward.
