I first played BW in 2015 when I was 20, so I wouldn't know. I got into Pokemon fairly late in general (started at 17 with Silver, then X the next year, then went back and tried FR and Plat, eventually leading to BW) and despite the mixed up route I went through, they did end up becoming my favorite games. It's true, they had a charm no others had, a sense of challenge and adventure the others didn't give me, not even BW2. I just regret not getting into Pokemon earlier so I could've tried BW sooner with everyone else.

I actually doubt he got it when was a kid. Why? Because no one bought BW2 at all. It is one of the games with the lowest reviews and sales of all Pokemon games.

The main thing I felt when I played BW for the first time was disappointment.
I enjoy BW nowadays, but it's been an acquired taste. Also if any of you are honest with yourselves you know that Gen 5 would still be regarded as one of the low points of the series if it wasn't for BW2 fixing most of BW's problems.

Those being the main ones I can remember them fixing. Also BW2 added positive features that BW didn't have, while taking the focus off of some of the more useless features of BW.

I was also in college, but the wonder was still there because back when BW dropped in Japan, a lot of anons, myself included, played partially translated roms. I recall it got as far as the 4th gym before it was straight up Japanese and you didn't know what the Fuck was going on or what you were facing. It was a magical time.

I adored the main storyline and it was probably my favourite at the time, but after coming from Platinum and HeartGold the postgame really soured it for me.

I played it with childlike wonder in high-school. I liked the direction that the pokemon games seemed to be taking at the time and got really excited for X and Y. Got less excited with each subsequent release. Still haven’t played anything after S/M.

I loved gen 5 and I was excited for XY but it didn't meet my expectations. SM made me lose interested in Pokemon and haven't bought a Pokemon game since. Right now I'm replaying HeartGold and reliving the good old days.
