>>45507756Kind of similar but not entirely. I grew up watching the anime (up until May and Max joined) and years later I found out Pokemon was actually a game, so I was eager to give it a try. Platinum was the latest release so I began with that and I fucking hated everything about it, so I didn't even bother and also skipped 5. When XY came out I decided to give it a try and absolutely loved it, to this day I still think that all the complaints about it are incredibly exaggerated and biased. I did went back and tried 5 eventually and I actually liked it, so I blame Gen 4 even more for almost making me miss out on actually good games.
