How is one supposed to actually play Pokémon without researching information that's not within the games? I, and many others, can beat games we have already played due to our years of studying information about the series, but how could we be expected to beat it without those years of research? Let's say we had an adult who is fairly competent at playing vidya, but had never played a Pokémon game before. Now, let's say we have him play one of the mainline games without giving him any extra materials on how to play the game. How would he be expected to play the game at a reasonable pace when he does not know what Pokémon are actually any good or not? How is he supposed to know what's a good nature for a Pokémon if he doesn't know its base stat total? How is he supposed to know if the stats accessible in the menu are high or low? How is he supposed to know how to type balance party members and their moves when the games don't usually have a full type weakness chart? I think most of us consider this a non-issue since we've been playing the series so much since we were small children, but without years of experience, isn't Pokémon a pretty hard series (you could also just consider it bad game design)?
