I always thought it was cancer. Greninja was banned in XY because it could run too many sets, then it just gets a whole new set of options to run and potentially rip holes into teams with.

Protean Geninja became unbanned when more things were able to deal with it, namely Toxapex, which forced Greninja to decompress its sets into special or physical to deal with it.

I don't say I hate any pokemon often, but Ash Greninja deserves it. It already had a special ability that made it better than the other Kalos starters, then got something STRONGER THAN A MEGA on top of that.
