In the anime, the Aether Foundation, mistaking Necrozma for an Ultra Beast, gives it the codename "UB Black". Furthermore, the Pokémon HOME Challenge for registering species of Ultra Beast does not take into account Cosmog, its evolutions, or Necrozma.

Though it needs to be said that the UBs likely WOULDN'T exist without Necrozma seeing as they're the result of worlds/dimensions that are more heavily bathed in the energy it radiates.

Didn't they state in the games that Necrozma had been so long in the Pokemon world that it lost its "ultra" energy or something? To explain why Beast Balls weren't super effective.
That aside, I caught my Necrozma in a Beast Ball only after 20-25 throws. It was fantastic.

they try to play around with the concept saying it might be but yes Necrozma (and the cosmog line) are ultra beasts, the reason they don't have beast boost is because they can control their travel through the wormholes instead of stumbling through them lika a normal UB or a faller like anabel

Unfortunately this. Beast Boost was originally implied to be because of the residual energy of the Ultra Wormholes inside of their bodies making them stronger, but then in USUM we got to go catch them in their home dimensions and they already had Beast Boost. Meanwhile Necrozma was originally implied to have spent so much time in our world that the residual energy petered out, leaving it with its original ability, but then USUM made it into the Ultra Dragon instead.

It’s also important to remember that Necrozma absorbs light/energy, due to lacking its own. So even if it would have gained a Beast Boost from the Ultra Wormhole energy that clings to the UB’s normally, it would likely just process that energy, which is why it has a normal ability.

My theory is that the multiverse is a bubble multiverse, which would explain why only Palkia is entirely associated with parallel worlds or how Hoopa seems to be able to also access parallel worlds but every time its ability is discussed it refers to spatial distance.

I was stating that Necrozma Aaron’s light and energy, so it wouldn’t even gain Beast Boost?

When you talk to Looker or Anabelle about n S/M it’s implied Fallers, or visitors from other worlds through Ultra Wormholes have a lingering energy. This was implied to be the reason why Beast Boost occurs as an ability.

I believe it was mentioned that Ultra Wormhole energy is responsible for things like the Totem Pokemon's unusual size and power to boost themselves. Maybe that was my mistake in linking the aura-power with Beast Boost.

It's pretty much the perfect metaphor for USUM's relation to SM.
All they did was retcon its reason for existing with the connection to Cosmog and the regular universe still being there, but even with all the new lore they added it still didn't answer anything important.
We still don't know the exact origin of Z-Moves or how they work, they gave an offhanded comment about it maybe originating from Necrozma's light but then contradicts itself by saying they still don't understand how they function.

Like if there was a game where you can catch an earlymid game roach or mosquito larva and it evolves into Pheromosa or Buzzwole that don't have Beast Boost and have ~450BST. Galar has a good number of regional guys with different stages than the original.

The Z-Crystals themselves actually are just Quartz-like fragments, that filter ‘Infinite Energy’ into the different typings as it interacts with various types of Pokémon; like how a quartz crystal fragments light into different bands of color.

I also like to think that, if Z-Crystals were part of the original Necrozma that shattered or lost its light in the past, that the energy either crystallized after it was scattered across the region of Alola, or they are pieces of Necrozma itself that were scattered across the four islands.

Either way, their Z-energy might resonate with Ultra Wormhole energy, which affects the areas and Pokémon around the island and ‘creates’ or empowers a Totem Pokémon, as the strongest in the area would likely covet the power of the crystals, and become the boss.

It could also be why Ultra Wormholes open more easily in Alola, since it attracts the same kind of energy that saturated the land.

I think it was actually theorized by Kukui that the shining stones that are made into Z-Rings are fragments of Necrozma's body, while Z-Crystals are ordinary crystals that have been irradiated by the ultra wormholes similarly to how Mega Stones are theorized by Sycamore to have been things like evolution stones that got altered by the fallout from the Ultimate Weapon.

This reminds me, how did necrozma "steal" the ultra megaopolis' light? do the not leave on a planet orbiting a star? could Necrozma not just orbit a star, absorb it's light and then go eat meteor crystals or something? pokemon's world building is very lacking

I've always head-canoned it away by assuming Necrozma absorbed the bulk of the energy from their sun, so they're basically orbiting a burned-out dwarf star. Don't know if the level of darkness they experience is appropriate for that but meh.
