I will make another thread if this one dies but I have an idea
Board decides on 3 pokemon for one game and 3 for another and OP will battle the mons via link cable for all to see

I wouldn't expect many from this board to have played Gen 1 games, I feel like the majority here has started with Gen 3 or later. And a few anons who didn't have already studied this game pixel by pixel, hence the lack of interest in your thread.
Few people who are still interested in Gen 1 entertain themselves with speedruns, searching for glitches and rom hacking. I've also seen hardware projects meant to extend the game's functionality (like multiplayer over the Internet and such). Some people even write science papers commonly dedicated to Gen 1 Pokemon games. And there's probably still some data left in the recent source code leaks to mine.
So yeah there's definitely some interest but on different levels from just playing around with Gameshark.

Not sure if this fits here, but I've been playing through Yellow with just a "u" (essentially Charizard with a way worse moveset). I found a cheat code which spawns one while looking for something else and thought it could be fun. Currently at Fuchsia, Body Slam and Ember has been mauling everything.
