Instead of lookin through rose tinted goggles 24/7, how about you go back and look at the anims of BW/B2W2, or even the general spritework of other gens (bar Gen 2, where they nailed almost every single mon). You'll pretty much see the sentiment repeated.
Now before you get any ideas, GF are dogshit devs, no doubt about it. But I find the cases of "muh bad idle" greatly exaggerated.
