I just like trying to get them in the wild / in raids / etc. the old-fashioned way without hacking/injecting because it’s fun, but /vp/ hates fun and would rather coom to waifus now, so they forgot what fun feels like.

Pretty much just the rarity factor. When I was younger I would keep around piss ugly shinies like Machop because "wow! it's so rare though!"
They're a pretty awful concept though, we could have a more interesting mechanic with Pokemon colors, like Stadium changing a Pokemon's colors based off their nickname, but it'll never happen because it'll step on the toes of shinies and cause autists to ree.

There are far nicer, more interactive and more fulfilling uses of your time than doing repetitive bullshit until the game gives and says you can have the thing. Grinding is fun in a game like monster hunter where you're actually playing the game and are at risk of losing, earning the resources you need to get what you want. Shiny grinding is an unsatisfying waste of time for a palette swap - it's far more entertaining to just get a shiny at random instead of forcing it to happen.

I disagree, I find most of them good, some of them great, and some of them boring. A small amount are ugly.

Some Pokemon's shinies changed between generations, which ruined them, like Pikachu, for example, in gen 2 was dark yellow / orange with purplish red accents, but then in gen 3 and onwards it became dark yellow with dark red cheeks. By gen 4 it was a much smaller change.
