I can actually speak with some authority on this topic since I used it for the first time yesterday playing Radical Red. Being the autist I am, I was catching and leveling up to level 11 everything I could find in the whereabouts of Viridian City.
Skwovet is DEFINITELY better than Patrat, Sentret, and Yungoos. And probably Bunnelby (haven't found one yet). It's got great bulk, great ability, great signature move, and salvagable attack.

Huge Power Diggersby is the best, yeah. But it's a HA not easily accessible in your average playthrough. Bunnelby and Diggersby have a pretty terrible attack without much bulk to fix that. Cheek Pouch is great, as is Ground typing once it gets it, but otherwise it looks pretty "meh." Ill be capturing one today (and keeping it for the journey) so we'll definitely see.

Greedent is straight up the best earlygame rodent. The only earlygame normal-type that might be better is Gen V Lillipup.

Unironically my favorite Galar mon. He was the ace of my team and wound up being the one to kill Leon’s Charizard. Cheek pouch + an Oran berry + stockpile + belch made him unkillable and could nearly OKKO anything.

Basically Snorlax-lite and has surprisingly wide coverage, not bad at all
Also getting STAB Body Slam at Level 20 is busted from an ingame perspective
