Alola - adventure and celebration of culture
Galar - being total shit like irl England is.

Despite similiarities between some of them, clearly all of the regions have their own, unique style and themes.

Alola fits with “nature” much like Hoenn, still. Ohmori’s word on SM is that the region is themed around an ecosystem, hence regional variants and ultra beasts, the latter of which are referred to as invasive species in the official artbook. This is also likely the reason why the Pokedex entries tend toward the wording of a brutal nature documentary in gen 7.
