When these games were released the majority of /vp/ were in love with them hailing them as the best games in the franchise far superior to every other version.

Now bw2 is barely even mentioned or discussed on vp and nobody seems to replay it.

Was vp wrong?

This. Everyone claims these games have challenge to them, and I feel like the AI is definitely better in some circumstances, but the Elite 4 only have 4 pokemon in the base game. FOUR. In challenge mode they only have FIVE. And the only hard fights are when trainers have pseudos carrying them hard. Even in a Nuzlocke it can be overcome just by having your own pseudo/legendary.

Gen 5 was definitely the beginning of the "we make these games for toddlers" era.

Optional rule, the only 3 main rules are faint = dead, name all pokemon, 1 catch per route.

A lot of people would just go release all their party mons and replace them with stored mons after a whiteout.

After SwSh, a lot of /vp/ oldfags just left. Th coomers and furfags stayed because there will always be threads catering to them, but pokemon fans that have played the games from gen 1-2 through gen 6-7 overwhelming praise Gen 5.
But even then, Pokemon’s ‘Golden Era’ wasn’t within a single generation. It began with Platinum, carried on with HGSS, B/W, before peaking with B2W2. Games before the Golden Era have a nostalgia factor, but are inferior games in one way or another. Games after it have declined in quality, with an uptick in the S/M games and the steep, steep drop of SwSh.
