A combination of autism and sunk cost fallacy, personally. I'm the guy who's always super fucking vague about what one of my characters and their story actually is, so it's not like I'm even confident in my own ideas. I'll probably say "this is stupid" a few years from now, but at least I haven't created much of anything meaningful for it so as far as setbacks go that's not a huge deal. If you don't quite get what I mean, listen to the early-ish Woolie Will Figure it Out, the ones about creating stuff rather than dealing with anxiety/other problems (or you can listen to those too if you want, it's just not relevant to my case).

Don't freq these threads but it's super chill to have something to daydream about. I could entertain myself for a good few hours simply imagining stories in my head of characters I make doing shit.
It's also a good backup to get out of art block with. Can't find something to draw? Boom, whip up one of my guys. Don't even gotta pull up complicated ref sheets or anything, I AM the ref sheet.

Jonno is usually prepped for anything but actually takes pretty badly to the cold - it's one of the reasons why Volcarona became his ace as a Gym Leader, just so he could stay warm between Flame Body and its Heat Waves.

ToTT: Jonno is thankful that his Pokemon are growing strong and healthy and that him bringing a Gym Challenge to the region he's in has gone so well so far. Whether it STAYS good is for the future to decide though as he's already suspecting something's up with the higher ups in the League

I just like makin' characters really. I've been having these shit depressive periods regarding my art and myself and I'm glad I have these OCs as an outlet. I want to flesh them out, make them their own people and give them a fun conclusion if they even get one all to make myself a better writer/artist. Plus Pokemon is just kinda cool :)

If I had a nickel for every ghost girl oc, I’d have 3 nickels. It’s not a lot but it’s a trend I was inspired to follow. Her name’s Hyacinth Van Lepido.

A dreary and melancholic girl, Hyacinth acts as the personal handmaiden that just sorta shows up inexplicably and takes orders from whoever she was following at the moment. She’d be. A great maid too it of weren’t for her pitifully low stamina & terrible luck.

She’s not actually a ghost but instead has the properties of an excellent (unintentional) medium, so much so that she can’t actually stop spirits from entering her body. It has its benefits, but it’s outweighed by the dozens of spirits living parasitically inside her she can’t get rid of. It’s the source of her lethargy and misfortunate aura. She may or may not do cocaine because there are ghosts in her blood.
Full team is Dustox, Sinistea, Shedinja, Spiritomb, & Paras.

Drug use is something I feel is sorely under-utilized in the Pokemon fandom. Not just recreational, but performance-enhancing, considering a major part of the setting is battling as a competitive sport. It could be an untapped goldmine.

My own PERSONAL setting is mostly the same as the games but exploring things from a different idea like the idea of Pokemon doping, cheating, corruption, the like.

For the RP setting most of my OCs are in it can be pretty grimdark depending on the players you play with or the quests you go on but DESU the edginess is either played off or played for laughs which makes it funnier and more cartoony - kind of like an in-between of PokeSpe and Games but with extra shite

Also we get variants like these so YMMV

Things *can* die too but your never going to get gore or fountains of blood. There’s a reason pokemon has never done full grimdark and that’s because it contradicts too hard with the technicolor magical cartoon animals running all over the place.

i see a shocking amount of hyper-grim dark pokemon fanfictions and it comes off extremely strange and cringe. They deviate way too far for it to seem believable.

For most Pokemon-related stuff, if it goes more serious or more dark than Kingdom Hearts or Kirby, you've done something wrong. That having been said, anybody who knows enough about either series (I don't know much about KH myself, but I know a lot about Kirby lore) can tell you that's a pretty high limit.

I don't know anything about Telltale games but my setting is fairly... heavy. A lot of it I try to ground in cold, hard realism but without being too grimdark about it. It veers HARD into autism territory, as I've basically crafted my own universe with its own laws just by filling in the gaps left by Pokemon media and/or changing things as I see fit. I'd be willing to share some of the more broad-strokes things if anyone's interested, though.

Alright, well... To start with, lot of the darker stuff comes into play when you dare to venture off the beaten paths between civilization - the further out you go, the stronger and more dangerous the wild Pokemon are, as they've been forced to survive in a mon-eat-mon world from birth. There are Pokemon out there that are more than willing to kill and/or eat humans just because they literally wandered into the wrong neck of the woods. And sometimes bounty hunting takes place when these Pokemon prove themselves to be too dangerous and/or moving too close to human settlements and must be put down to protect people's lives. The vast majority of people, however, will never encounter these kinds of Pokemon, because the vast majority of people will not wander off the designated routes on their "coming of age" journeys, which these days are more of a cultural formality than anything. The vast majority of the Pokemon people own, too, ESPECIALLY competition Pokemon of all kinds, have been bred and raised from birth by human hands for generations - while it's possible for a skilled hand to tame Pokemon who were removed from the wild as eggs or at incredibly young ages, those truly wild Pokemon from the deeper reaches of the wilderness who grew up fighting to eat and/or avoid being eaten are impossible to just catch and bring into normal human society. As such, there's also usually a level of observable physical variance between domesticated Pokemon and their wild brethren, even though they're the same species.
Also, things like guns exist, with varying levels of availability depending on where you live, but their stopping power against Pokemon varies a lot, to say the least. For example, you're not getting through a rock or steel type's hide with anything less than an antimateriel rifle. And even for more mundane flesh-and-blood mons, they can be strong enough to tank a lot more than you'd think.

Roswell is unsure about what he wants to do in the world and thus seeks purpose and acceptance. His lack of deep personal attachment to anyone but his Pokemon has kept him on the road. He travels to prove his own worth.
Sevii girl travels not to prove herself, but rather to prove her archipelago. She's deeply loyal to her region and wishes to prove it to the world. Especially those Kantonians.

The Pokemon League and other official competitions are all heavily controlled to avoid as much lasting damage to the participants as possible. Even then, it's not uncommon for Pokemon to get hurt badly enough that they're out of commission for a long while. But that doesn't hold a candle to "real" fights - the kind where you're either in an underground all-out bloodsport or actually fighting for your life against criminals. If you see a Pokemon that's got some heavy scarring, they've probably been involved in these kinds of fights. People obviously don't like to think about this side of things, but veteran police officers/Interpol agents are familiar with it all too well.

I just think Pokemon as a setting is unique and impossible to emulate or imitate. There is a near limitless potential for adventure in strange and unique environments and it's nice being able to play up the connection between people and Pokemon.

See, the major theme of my setting comes from expanding on the biological aspects of Pokemon - things like fleshing out how breeding/reproductive mechanics work in a more realistic way all the way to genetic manipulation. The former is mostly just me researching how egg-laying species in the real world work and then slapping onto Poke-biology, but ever since the introduction of proper regional forms I've been interested in the idea of using selective breeding and genetic manipulation to alter Pokemon all the way down to the base level - altering their types and abilities.
For Pokemon "breeds", it works mostly the same way it does in reality through selective breeding for desired traits, but cross-breeding species from the same egg groups to create unique hybrid breeds is also a thing. This works by taking the same two species of Pokemon and mating them together repeatedly through the same line, which will eventually result in aspects of the paternal species appearing in the maternal species (which dictates the species of the offspring). Doing this can get you results like an Audino with pure-white fur that has the Togepi line's speckle patterns, or a Bulbasaur line that have a giant rose on their backs instead of a jungle flower.
Then there's the other end of the spectrum, genetic manipulation and splicing. Pulling from the TCG (and not that fangame) I've settled on calling them "delta species" for now, but I'd like to know if anyone thinks that should be changed. Delta species are Pokemon that have been, well, altered at the genetic level to change their types and physical characteristics. For example, Delta Haxorus is Dragon/Steel type, and its armor plates and tusks have been infused with iron, making it heavier and slower, but bulking it up significantly.

Speaking strictly of the games, I feel there's a special dilemma where the Pokemon games tend to get underestimated on how dark they can be. But as for forbidden content, I feel like rape and gore are pretty up there. But things like physical/mental/emotional abuse are not, considering Guzma is implied to be very physical in his anger outbursts and his dad implied to have beat him as a kid until he fought back. Sun and Moon were particularly fucked up, now that I think about it. SuMo I would consider the upper limit outside of whatever Gen 1 was doing, considering Team Rocket were a bunch of assholes.

Basically, I feel that there needs subtlety when youre working with "edge". You have to think "would this be allowed in a kids game?" or "is this going too far in general?"

It's easy to get carried away. Don't shy away from things like death, sex, abuse, spookiness as a whole, and even... alcohol (gasp!), but don't take it to an extreme or make it a centerpiece. The series acknowledges that there is still pain and struggle in the "utopia" the Pokemon world is said to be. People who believe none of that should be in an OC's backstory are probably from a country that censored a lot of it lol

Of course of you're not following any particular canon then go nuts, who even cares. Pokemon has potential for mature themes to be explored. I also don't know much about the other forms of media, the ashnime is probably one of the "main" forms of Pokemon media that's the more "sterilized" from an outside point of view, though it still has a its moments.

There are also a lot of scattered, miscellaneous things that I've written up here and there. Just digging through my folders, I have word docs about things like detailing/expanding the concept of Pokemon "evolution"/metamorphosis, the genes for "shiny" colorations, the effects music can have on Pokemon, Pokemon intelligence, moves that were developed for utility by humans (like Rototiller and Incinerate), how Mega Evolution and Z-Power work, and some cultural worldbuilding about things like Contests, Pokeathelons, and Showcases, or the general kinds of laws that govern the capture of wild Pokemon. And a lot, lot more. I've sunk way, way too much into this.

And all of this isn't even touching on another major aspect that I've developed, yet fight with myself constantly over whether or not I actually want to roll with it. "Therians" - humans who can transform to and from Pokemon forms and use their powers.

Tying back to these, I think I mentioned before that Jonno's family are not only all very similar looking people (think the officer Jennys / Nurse Joys from the anime) but are all more successful in their own right.

The Jonathan from Unova became a huge star after becoming Champion but was accused of not only cheating but doping his Pokemon. The coverage was super public and widespreading and in tandem with his haughty attitude and bad temper it ruined his image to the point he had to hide away in Asperita Town (which would then tie it back to the BW2 comic idea I had but it's still something that happens when removed from the game-expy stories.)

I feel like this is something that would or could happen a lot in Pokemon and I wanna explore it more myself

Interestingly, that might actually not be the case, at least when it comes to the game canon. You might have seen this image floating around. The Japanese text comes from a specific official guidebook (I don't trust translations of the title because it seems to be different on every site but the ISBN is 4091028349) and is backed up by an in-game statement so I'm going to assume most Pokemon don't lay eggs and just give birth to premature young, sort of like marsupials in that way. Not saying that remains true in other canons though, the anime is notably different in a few other areas so I can't say for certain what's going on there.

The main question I have regarding that is what do the premature Pokemon eat inside the "egg" to grow? If those constructed-eggs are something that you can put into an incubator, they must be self-sustaining, meaning that the baby inside has some form of nourishment. Would the Pokemon put the food inside before closing it up? Would the food not go bad? There are also a lot of species you wouldn't think are physically capable of making something like that, either (imagine a dog making a paper mache egg). (Plus, I like imagining a lot more variety to Pokemon eggs.) You could even make arguments for some Pokemon having live young through ovoviviparity.

In regards to Mega Evolution and Z-Power, I see it as ME being based on resonance and Z-Power being based on transference. In mega evolution, the Key Stone and Mega Stone let the trainer and Pokemon's auras resonate and match each other's wavelengths, prompting the transformation, while simultaneously connecting them and letting the trainer act as a stabilizing component to control the personality shifts in the Pokemon that accompany mega evolving. Hence why in the lore it's said there needs to be a strong bond for mega evolution to be successful. Z-Power I instead see as being the trainer transferring their energy to their Pokemon for them to use for a single powerful attack, hence why you can only use it once per battle (to avoid dangerously exhausting yourself).

Actually, wanting to do Burst right/better was a major inspiration behind the idea. I felt Burst was poorly executed, and couldn't decide if it wanted to be transformations or costumes.

The world of Pokemon has made such a unique and interesting atmosphere, enviroment, and universe that it seems impossible for me not to dive into it using OCs as an extention of myself. There's a lot to delve into, so many different Pokemon to have different Trainers. Making Trainers is fun as hell, even if a lot of them don't actively battle but still own Pokemon to help with their daily lives or to keep as pets. There's just so much to work with.

Also I'm a giga-simp and I want to ship my OCs with canon characters. It gives me so much dopamine I can't stop, it's an extremely old vice. At least as an adult I can make sure the characters don't suck and can stand on their own. I still think it's bad and weird so it's a constant struggle between the autistic wolf and the sensible wolf. I can't decide which one I should be feeding. Well... Could be worse, I guess.

But if it's something like a miltank in captivity. It's just a baby pokemon, like a real animal.

That's mostly how my setup works though, if a pikachu gets hit by a scyther it's not just going to have a scratch. It's probably going to be pretty fucking bad.

Seeing this thread reminded me of my old OC from high school Roach, so here's him gathering firewood. Roach was made as part of an online RP group that fell apart extremely quickly, but was pretty fun while it lasted. The other characters were all broody edgelords, happy-go-lucky shonen protags, cutesy girls, or fapbait, so I decided to go against the grain and made a perpetually salty Bug specialist with delusions of grandeur. He's 100% convinced that he's the greatest Bug trainer to ever live and is extremely bitter that Bugsy and Aaron have League positions while he's stuck fighting randos for pocket money. Although he's not exactly poor, his clothes are shabby because he refuses to spend money on new ones as long as they're still technically wearable. The other players called him the "angry bug hobo," and apparently everyone really liked this belligerent manchild because they wouldn't stop PMing me for roleplays. Good times.

If you have psychic types, they probably get along better with psychic types. Fire types might not enjoy spending time with pokemon that will burst into flames by accident just being around them.

It's probably cheaper too, since pokemon that share a type also share the same diet. You can't exactly feed bug type food to a fire type and if you come from a low income area, you probably don't have the funds to care for something like a dragon.

Location matters too, if you live in a desert, you're not going to have much access to ice or water types

Not every Pokemon trainer is like the game player character, traveling to certain areas in the region is either unfeasible or theyre not interested in it.
Someone who grew up in a mountain isnt going to go fishing and catch a Magikarp->Gyarados, for instance, and they might not know how to care for water/flying/bug types without much experience around them or in their environments. Thats why only the most experienced trainers, like Ace Trainers and MCs, have varied types. most trainers in canon tend to be type-specialists, albeit not to the degree of Gym Leaders and other boss-tier trainers.

Understandable. If you want to bitch about that instead, I've got a few fun facts about both characters. Ming Ming used to be an anthro Glaceon OC, and Iris used to be what I can only describe as "humanized MLP OC". Probably not surprising, but it does explain a lot. Honestly both modern designs are upgrades in my opinion, but my opinion doesn't mean very much.
That having been said, anybody have any character like that? Somebody they adapted from something else into a Pokemon OC? Or at the very least inspired a Pokemon OC, like an Ash to the previous character's Red so to speak.

Osamu Tezuka's Star System. Basically, he drew the same characters in different roles in different stories, and went further with the "actor" thing by even pretending to give them salaries and stuff I think. I guess if you design a good character, why waste the design. Of course, having somebody "typecast" can make them a little boring, so don't be afraid to make somebody who's a good boy in one universe a terrible person in another, although the "different roles" thing implies you might have tried something like that.

Like I said before, my OC is a generalized OC that I use on EVERYTHING.
But I do have a small slew of characters that are only for POkémon, mostly because I hate the current concept of gyms in POkémon.
In my opinion, gyms should be based on Pokémon strategies and not on Pokémon types, so my custom gym leaders are made with that in mind.

Well let's start with the first gym leader, which are a direct copy of Black and White because that design was far too good. Instead of having one gym leader, you have a family of vaguely native-american people, who carry Pokémon strong agaisnt your starter, and their teams ace will be made to effectively counter your starter's type.
The second leader: Her name is Twinkle (no one knows her real name) and she dresses like a little jester. She is the first gym leader (levels 20 or so) and her strategy specializes in using "shitmons" in competitive matters. Her team is the weakest it could be, with the most pathetic excuses of fully-evolved Pokémon. However, for their stage, they will have full EV investment and perfect stats and training.
Her shtick is that she only battles for fun, challenging herself to be a competent leader and giving a good fun show with a team of Pokémon most people consider weak. Her initial team is:
Wishiwashi (With the ability Simple instead of schooling)
Sunkern
Blipbug
Unown (Psychic HP)
Unown (HP strong agaisnt your starter)

Amongst those trainers there also gym leader that specialize in "troll" tactics, stall tactics, sweep tactics, and the 8th gym leader that specializes in only using the strongest pokémon with highest BST (but he has no strategy or knowledge of how Pokémon works)

I have a few ideas for Pokemon-exclusive characters that are gym leaders, too. Set in a fan region based on my home area. I haven't fleshed any of them out more than a rough outline yet, but I wanted to focus the league on double battles with the gym leaders having both a type theme but mainly a doubles-based strategy, similarly to Raihan. So in general about half of their team will be made of their type specialty but with other types as support teammates.

Well I've never made any pokemon characters just for the fun of it, but I did make a trainer in PTU to demo character creation, does that count? I was impressed by how flexible the system is, I made a biwa hoshi that's able to do all the fundamental spooky blind musician things like soothing spirits and divination at level 1, with points left over to dip into channeler for more spooky ghost powers and chef for some extra utility and flavor. I didn't have room for General Education or Occult Education, which would also be very fitting for a Heike performer, but I wanted to focus on the supernatural stuff at first since it seems more fun :D

A stubborn kodama who refuses to be pacified seems like an appropriate companion for a biwa hoshi. Agree, then again we have things like Pokemon Masters where BW Grimsley is hanging out with SuMo Nanu in Pasio, but it's explained that it's spacetime bullshit thanks to Hoopa. It isn't unusual for stuff like that to happen in the Pokemon universe, but if your story has none of that, it's important to be mindful of your setting so it doesn't seem sloppy. Besides, I suppose even without the canon stuff, people would still say it's just an AU or something. I dunno, as long as intentions are clearly stated it could be excused.

That being said do we have a timeline for the games? I've been trying to figure out where SwSh takes place. I haven't found any official timelines besides that one deleted tweet.

Sometimes there are OCs that I end up retconning when new gen comes out and seems to fill a hole where their story had one. Galar gave me the perfect region to have one character originate from when previously I just sorta slapped them in Johto, and it was the same when I had a islander character before Alola was a thing.

I'd say if it feels too good not to, I retcon things a lot. Especially when there's something that fits an OC so much I can't just ignore it.

Besides influences from the series, I try to "refresh" and/or flesh out older characters considering sometimes my writing and ideas were kind of stale 3-10 years ago. Since most of my stuff isn't online anywhere or solidified by anything otherwise, I feel I can do that lol.

Humbert's a fun guy who's got a cozy ranch with a bunch of different Pokémon in it. He doesn't travel around a bunch like a lot of the other OCs do and just stays home to take care of his friends, which is something I could relate to if I ever somehow made it into the Pokemon world. He lives a simple life, but he's still happy as can be. Plus he's got a bod like mine, so that's extra points there.
Murdoch's WAY different. Apparently he's a scientist from some big group of humanitarians who all hate Pokemon, and all the Pokemon hate them back. He said that both sides have done bad things, so neither side is really the "good guy" or "bad guy". He ends up getting kidnapped by a Malamar and Beheeyem whose names I can't remember and ends up being forced to work for them. He's probably got other anons that like him because of just the rapist audino memes

I've went over this in a previous thread, but I'd like to re-iterate we're dealing with a continuity family system. Granted the dividing lines in Pokemon are much different than in Transformers, the other major franchise that uses that system, but the gist is that we can group similar series together and say they connect generally, while also saying that they don't necessarily have to be exactly the same. It's why BW doesn't make DP non-canon because they mention Platinum, but also doesn't necessarily imply that there's two different versions of Platinum. Or am I not making sense? And if you want to talk breaking points, I can pick apart a lot more examples than just ORAS for setting up a multiverse. I'm way too into this shit so I've thought way too much about it, it's basically a core element of the Pokemon projects I'm working on. I don't know why I do this to myself, I haven't tried getting into Xenosaga because it seems intimidating and impenetrable yet I'm doing shit that's probably even worse.

That's a good question! I've given a little thought to backstory and stuff, but I'm not really sure how this works for Pokemon. Do people prefer the regions already established ingame? I was thinking of using Tohoku, but if that's no good Johto would be fine as well. If Tohoku is okay he probably had a common name that was popular a few decades ago like Takuya or Kenta, and was probably a the son of a farmer who got lost in the woods. If I'm going with Johto, then he was definitely an Edo period noble with a fancy aristocratic childhood name like Chofukumaru.

Or maybe I should tone it down with the IRL history? Pokemon has a lot of ties to the real world if you look closely, but I don't know if anyone finds that interesting lol

I feel like people play loose enough with the setting for something as simple as "being from a far away place" is whatever. I personally think it'd be strange to go with literally just Tohoku since Kanto and Johto cover more than one region of Japan iirc, but coming up with another goofy name for the area might be silly. Outside of that the concept sounds pretty neat, although I'm curious if they're supposed to also be someone who lived in antiquity or if you're just using a historical profession for the character.

You're right, Kanto and Johto both take parts of southern Chubu and Johto also covers a tiny slice of eastern Shikoku (plus Kanto has the Izu and Bonin islands in gen 3), but Tohoku is pretty big by Japanese standards, plus there's a slice of northern Chubu that isn't claimed by any other region, so hypothetically you could just lump the two together the same way Kanto and Johto did. To be honest though I was thinking of narrowing it down to Aomori specifically and just say that it's in the same vague middle of nowhere between Johto and Sinnoh as the Sinjoh Ruins, and no one has ever heard of it because there aren't enough people there to sustain a pokemon league lol

The latter, though PTU does have a fantasy supplement so I guess I could do either! Pokemon is pretty friendly to anachronisms, plus I feel like the tradition might have survived into the modern age if there were as many ghosts with insane powers wandering around as there are in the Pokemon world.

I'm a geography nerd so I'm biased in favor of real life places, but I do think being overly slavish to IRL maps takes some of the fun out of the series. Pokemon as a whole, in my opinion, should be sufficiently grounded in reality that things are effortlessly understandable at a glance, but also not be restricted by the rules of the real world whenever breaking those rules would be more fun or do a better to spark the imagination. Chargestone Cave is a perfect example of how deviating from the real map can enhance the experience. Obviously there's no electric cave full of floating rocks in the real New York, but I sure wish there were :D

But in truth, I haven't fully established if he's a talented Ranger or if he's an apprentice to someone much more experienced.

The Pokemon Rangers in my version of the Pokemon world are very decentralized, so anything can happen. All in all, Ranger Titus' world is pretty separate and on its own.

first time drawing a Pokémon oc and posting here.
this is a humble farmer girl named Claribel (very original name, I know) living in a region south of Unova. isn't super into battling but will do it if directly challenged. most times she would rather tend to the crops than go out, much to the dismay of her mother who thinks she isn't social enough. however, she will talk your ear off if given the chance. she's just the "married-to-my-job" type, that's all. Claribel is the kind of person who always turns down an offer of help and says "it's fine; let me do it" even after they insist. she is still very caring though and will help out anyone (so long as those troubles aren't about your relationships; she can't really relate). if she comes across a hurt Pokémon she will do everything in her power to make it alright.
she hopes to start a farm of her own with a nice family by her side. here's hoping she can get away from the current farm long enough to find somebody.

My OC develops a habit of making handmade things for his companions. The first person he does it for was kind of down on her luck for most of her life, so it's a gesture of kindness. Then, two others are much, much wealthier than he is, so buying them things didn't feel right. Not sure what he'd get in return - always pictured him more as the giving rather than receiving type.

It's hard for me to describe, but I'd say it's the lighting. Gmax designs, for lack of a better word, feel "glowy". That Arcanine has parts of its body glow, glowing flame eyes, it feels reminiscent of gmax charizard. Megas meanwhile tend to have much busier-feeling designs, taking aspects of the mon and just cranking it to 11.

I want the ability illuminate to actually do something, and one idea was to lower evasion for the opponents. The mega would play into that too and turn it into a support mega, lower evasion for its teammates and lower attack, and use spore.

I think I've mentioned it in a previous thread, but Murdoch's coat has tiny plates inside of it that regulate his body temperature to remain constant. It lets him operate comfortably in hot or cold environments without issue.

Murdoch was raised by both his parents and many strict people who shaped him into the sharp young man he became over the years. He was very thankful for them helping him to discover and grow his scientific pursuits in biotechnology. After Orzabal (the Malamar) and Curtonix (the Beheeyem) kidnapped him to use his brain as a catalyst, however, he now has little to be thankful for other than the fact that they're both keeping him alive.

Many stories feature the trainers as having the spotlight, while the Pokemon themselves only act as extensions of said trainers. Additionally I feel that having an objectively evil team with nonsensical or ludicrous ideas in their grasp for power not quite to my liking. It's alright if others like something simple, but I wanted to have the limelight belong in equal strength to both Pokémon and humans. Pokemon can have their own desires and goals, and not all of them are completely benevolent angels who can do no harm without human intervention. That being said, when both sides of the conflict have very real stakes and logical reasoning for doing what they do, it creates a sense of conflict for the observer.

You may desperately want to see Murdoch and the rest of the mon-hating society be destroyed for their beliefs of human/Pokémon coexistence being detrimental to humanity in the long run, but they sort of have no choice when powerful mons are attacking their societies and robbing them of their resources. On the other hand, the human oligarchy spares no mercy for the Pokémon that showed no mercy to their own people in turn. It spirals into neither side explicitly being either good or evil.

I sat this one out mostly. Quite happy with some of the new ocs I’ve spotted and the monthly treat of some anons art. The new faces are great too! One if these days I’ll go full autist and explore my region stuff but I guess that’ll be next year’s problem.

To round the thread out I guess, some art I just finished of the same oc I did for the OP pic. Not mine but I draw more of this guy’s stuff than my own, kek.

I probably won't be posting my art or OCs here since I don't want to be recognized and the shipping thing isn't supposed to be "public knowledge" but I like coming here to discuss things because it helps me fill in gaps I can't seem to decide to fill in on my own. Such as the official timeline of the games, given it was decided to barely exist. I suppose I'll just make something up on my own.

That being said, I would like to come back to the next thread because I don't have anywhere else to talk about this stuff and I like the anonymity. I won't be bringing up shipping here again though, not the place for it. See you all next month/whenever someone makes another OC thread for help if I need it.
