What the fuck is this design philosophy? I'm genuinely confused. Most, if not all game devs who pilot major franchises try to appeal to as broad an audience as possible as they want to be making sweet bucks off existing fans while drawing in newer players. And I get that every new game is kind of a testing phase, experimenting with new features and twisting the game's formula bit by bit. But what the fuck do you solve by EXPLUSIVELY making games that appeal only to people who HAVEN'T touched a Pokemon game before? This is next level retarded and it fully explains why the franchise has gotten so fucking stale and low quality.

That's because they don't have a ready-made market, like Game Freak do, which they hooked waaaaaay back in 1996, when word-of-mouth in the playground caused a groundswell of sales that drove it westwards.

If people were just faking their ages then the 10-20 section would be the largest. I very rarely saw kids play back when I used to raid with people and if you asked on /pgg/ I bet most people would agree. The player characters looking like adults + increasing amount of monetization is also big indicators that they're catering to adults
Ftr I agree that mainline is pretty much for kids, while POGO is more for adults. It's pretty common for nostalgia-driven franchises like this to have different products for different age groups (see: superhero shit or Kamen Rider)

Eternatus as a design just feels very un-Pokemonlike. Even a year later, it still hasn't settled in as a Pokemon in my mind. I think the skeletal design really hurts it, as cool as it might be. It can't emote. Eternatus is a design where any kind of emotion will feel unnatural as fuck from it. Even objectmons still had designs that could emote on a half believable level.

And it doesn't help that they did literally nothing to flesh out its lore after the fact. It's just "it came from nowhere one day and made Pokemon grow big". It's a total mystery, completely alien, completely out of place within either the regional hierarchy or the universal one.

Least UBs can emote.
