Yes, unironically. I loved Wonder Launcher and having it as an option in the game was great if they fine-tuned it to be more balanced rather than removing it.

There's modes with a regulation list based on availability that doesn't take actual balance into account and a mode with no restrictions that, surprise surprise, has no restrictions. Try reading. Neither of those systems are actual balance attempts because they restrict stuff like Celebi with 11 weaknesses and nothing special about it while allowing things like Landorus.

You do realize "balance" cut more things than just dexit, right? Think for a second rather than relying on strawman. They removed things like megas so Pokemon that absolutely needed the buffs like Mawile and Beedrill just go back to being irredeemable shitmons now (the latter not even being available), they also proceeded to remove a bunch of moves like Hidden Power so half the grassmons in the game have their coverage as Petal Dance+Hyper Beam.

Celebi is special, it's a mythical and very difficult to get. You don't play.

It's unfortunate, but a fair price to pay to get rid of cancer like Mega Mom and M-Luke. The 3DS era was a dark age for competitive Pokemon. I never said competitive Pokemon was perfect.

This is the worst defense for shafting singles I've ever seen.

It's completely ass-backwards that GF refuses to accommodate for people who just want to play the old fashioned 6v6 format online. They lose absolutely nothing in doing it, they even accommodated for it in LAN mode. Literally no reason not to.

You can't even accuse the competitive playerbase of being overly whiny, they stuck it out for a whole fucking year before trying to actually make a stink over the complete shitshow that is singles multiplayer in SWSH.

If this were the case they would be attempting to make the multiplayer as streamlined as possible instead of going back on QOL that Gen 6 did perfectly.
It's still more tedious and slower to get perfect EV/IV Pokemon than it was in fucking ORAS of all games.

Now, that's playing optimally without getting into World of Light. Pokemon is almost worse off, as you can theoretically enjoy Smash with the 8 characters you start with (especially if you're 20XX), but it's hard to enjoy online Pokemon with just your starter and early game shitmons, although the Wild Area seems to want to be a bandaid for that problem. It doesn't help that making a good Pokemon requires a lot of progress in the game, I think certain incredibly useful items are locked all the way behind the Battle Tower (although I'm also going to say that they very well may be found somewhere else). To put it simply, Smash feels better to just pick up and play even if you need to invest over 10 hours to get everything, while Pokemon feels worse to pick up and play because you feel obligated to slog through the story to get anywhere close to the good stuff.

Exactly, because Pokemon is comparatively worse than any other RPG (because Pokemon has devolved from an RPG into a Visual Novel-lite).
The difference is that if people call Mario Kart 8 out on its stagnation and flaws, they don't screech and say criticism bad like they do with Pokemon.

Ideally it'd be one of those games where the lines between "singleplayer mode" and "multiplayer mode" would end up blurring
But Pokemon's PvP scene is pretty terrible so in practice most people just treat it as a single-player game with light multiplayer elements. The main story isn't great either but it at least functions as well-polished video game comfort food

None, but honestly even competitive Pokemon doesn't even really play like a RPG since most people just hack in what they want anyway. It always reminded me like a poor man's card game, and VGC even gives you a "side deck" to work with considering its 4v4 format
