I would rather use a flashcart, and you can lay in bed or go out with it (if you have a job, that is)
Otherwise, use melon ds. Avoid desmume, since it is proven the creators hate pokemon and actively sabotage the builds to make it run badly.

Get over yourself. It's safe to use. I've been using it for months now and so have many others. No viruses, no rootkits, no keyloggers, haven't been hacked, haven't been phished, everything is 100% good with my system.
