Meta Knight alone makes any debate of competitiveness require an asterisk, Snake has literally bugged data, chain grabs are a snoozefest, Pokemon Trainer objectively didn't work, and several characters have day 1 patch-worthy oversights in their movepools that the game ended up built around.
The bottom tier fighters were similarly objectively broken, with dysfunctional movesets that often times make no sense in their own context.
It's by far the least balanced Smash game to date, even Smash 64 was more balanced than Brawl. It's fun on a casual level, but then cbt is fun with friends.
