You'll have to buy the $30 + tip DLC for more story + catching the new legends instead of trading for them (if you have access to injecting forget that latter part). Wait until the game + stuff that should have been included in the full price game at launch combo pack becomes $40-45 at some point (or used for cheaper)

if you buy the DLC you get a much better game (which is a sad thing to say) the main story is fairly enjoyable though. if you liked moon you'll like this (as long as you don't get tempted to spam raid candy and end up overlevelled as shit). People on here hate this game with a passion but honestly it's still a pokemon game so you know the drill. Also having it will let you play onlilne stuff and do the raids with friends which is fun

I bought the Physical Game+DLC (+a steelbook) for $65. I'm currently finishing up the second DLC and I've enjoyed it so far. DLC makes up for the boring main game and I'm happy with that.
I'm going to make a second user on my switch so I can grab the legendaries that I wasn't able to get (Glastrier Dragoleki and the other Urshifu)

For 34 bucks I would get the game. SwSh isn't as bad as haters say. It sure isn't the best pokemon game out there but it really isn't a bad one and for that price it is definitely worth it.

What is it about the DLC that makes people like it better than the base game? Isn't it just a bunch of legendary hunting? I'm not really a fan of legendaries so I don't really care about that.

Making an entire area a Wild Area, incorporating the story to it and creating a sort of sandbox style semi-non linear approach to doing things brings new breath into the series [Which the series desperately needs]. Which kind of gives hope that the next game will hopefully do the same.

But honestly Klara makes it worth the extra $$$

I would argue totems replacing gyms in gen 7 somewhat changed the formula since totem battles work differently than normal gym battles. As much as I hate LGPE those games admittingly tried something new with the catching mechanic, although I don't like the fact that they completely removed wild battles. If they kept wild battles AND the catching mechanic I think that would be fine. I don't like LGPE changing for changing the way wild encounters worked but it is undoubtedly an attempt to change the formula, even if it isn't a good change

I'd say the base game is worth 25$ max, 40$ with season pass. Also take in consideration how much you care for online play, if you only want to play the campaign then definitely wait it out. Then again, Nintendo games rarely drop in price
Don't forget next year we'll probably have a new switch game that's most likely gonna better than swsh, so skipping altogether is a viable alternative
