my mom didn't let me get pokemon ruby/sapphire when i was 10-11 years old, because she "thought over that". truthfully, i just enjoyed enjoyed the games and was sad that she didn't let me get it, but i am ultimately grateful that she didn't let me become some /vp/-posting autist. (i do visit the board a couple times per year and hold nothing against you personally, just being objective.)

how did/do your parents react to your pokeautism?

I've been playing pokemon ever since yellow came out in 1999. I was 8 when it launched. My mom is an idiot who believes action figures were built by Osama Bin Laden as bombs so she doesn't let me carry them on airplanes yet I saw another kid playing with a Blaziken. My mom is a shitty American hypocrite because she threw away my squirtle figure. Bastards were feeding her lies because they were too lazy to do their job and clean shit up.

It was difficult to convince my parents to buy me Pokemon games, and I didn’t play one until I was almost in middle school. My parents thought it’s satanic evil stuff and promoting animal abuse, and also just think the gameplay is annoying and repetitive (they generally hate almost all video games though). If you really think a hobby is going to force you to use websites that you don’t want to, then you have some kind of mental problem and you need to learn better time management. Playing Pokemon at a young age isn’t going to magically make you an autist, you were probably already an autist to begin with.

i'm not sure i understand your issue with my post, anon. all i meant to imply was that if i had continued playing pokemon in more advanced years, i would be more likely to be a /vp/ poster. i also don't think everyone who posts on /vp/ is an autist. (granted, most probably are)

They didn't give a shit like any half-decent parents because Pokemon is a videogame and they recognize that videogames are just as much as a hobby as their watching TV, so they had no right to judge.
Also I was never really autistic about Pokemon, the worst you could say I've done is dress up as Pikachu for Halloween two years in a row in Kindergarten-1st Grade and that was kinda cringe in hindsight. Now I just have a lot of accumulated knowledge about the games; that's about it.
