They allow me to experience the Unmatched freedom of the originals without having to deal with the inherent shittiness of gen 1. My only major issues are that they didn't do enough to improve gen 1 graphics, like cycling road still using land tiles and not being a bridge is fucking stupid, and other such limitations. I don't mind not being able to use later evolutions till post game but they should've kept the evolution animation from even being triggered till post game, it's annoying and confusing
Also give Giovanni his rhydon back and increase the E4 and champion levels by 2 back to what they were
Sevii islands should've been exclusively post game.
Overall, amazing good remakes and great games, sevii islands are fucking kino
That said, it doesn't even have a battle tower, so after you finish exploring everything and do the E4 rematches, you have essentially 0 reason to play the games anymore
