It's alright. It can be really grindy if you're aiming for a specific digimon, but if you want to just face rush the plot, you don't really need to grind. Graphics are higher quality than pokemon, but less diverse. Get ready for a lot of pic related. The type system is more simple and intuitive than pokemon's, but everything is basically dual typed (virus/data/vaccine + fire/water/plant/electric/earth/wind/light/dark). There's a lot of retreading old maps if you want to be a completionist, and a bit even if you don't. They didn't hyper-localize it, so if you aren't a huge weeb a bunch of jokes will go over your head.

For the farms, sure. For the rest of the gameplay, hard no. The maps in this one can get a bit samey but navigating any of the Dawn/Dusk games was a nightmare.

It's good but do NOT play it to own gamefreak or some autistic revenge bullshit. It's a grindy JRPG made for Digimon fans. It focuses on missions and story over exploration and capturing monsters. There are no gyms or any shit like that.

If you get the game on the Switch, be aware you can leave your Digimon in the farm (you have to leave one in your party) and put the Switch to sleep (not turned off) and they'll keep levelling up. This eliminates 90% of the grind and lets you play around with Digivolution a lot more, especially in the early game.

Look, it's good, and I honestly preferred these games to the later Pokemon gens. But be aware that these are ports of budget Vita games, so don't expect anything revolutionary. You do get two games for the price of one, and the second improves upon the first, so money-wise I'd say it's worth the buy.
Like other comments also pointed out, these games have very different priorities from the Pokemon mainline, they're not just "Pokemon but with different monsters". Go in expecting more story-focus, missions and much harder bosses.

It's a poor mans persona. So if you're looking for monsters to collect and go on adventures with a cool fantasy world you're in the wrong place. I hope you like Tokyo and generic anime characters.
It's a glorified VN with the same copy pasted hallways for a dungeon. The battles look nice but it's still pretty easy even on hard. The battle system is kinda retarded too.

I recommend waiting Nocturne HD and checking that out instead.

>a history of free, big and good DLC
>A metagame that has way less balancing issues
>tons of optional and rewarding challenge that beats novice players to a pulp
>good voice acting
>Massive multiplayer options viz the Busters mode that is easily a Monster Hunter-esqu game mode on its own
>Quick and convenient stat maxing
>Monsters with tons of personality
>Creepy and dark lore while still retaining a sense of humor

Yo-Kai Watch is more than deserving of S Rank. Go make your own list instead of getting so needlessly angry.

The maps are very samey just different coloured cyberspaces and some real japan locations. It's not too bad otherwise, though the progression isn't always obvious.
I liked it, but if you're desperate for a monster collector I'd recommend DQM since Story focuses on the human characters/Royal Knights a lot. If you like SMT though definitely play Story.

Intro aside... here's a straight hour of unique Digimon animations, which, if you remember, were made specifically for this game. Pokemon has not only reused animations, but also 7 year old models. I recommend going to 41:38 on the video if you just want to get right to some of the crazier animations.

bestbuy had it 19.99 physical like two weeks ago and I'm pissed I missed it. This game is on my list to get for the switch. Watched a lot of videos and it looks way better than modern pokemon.
