ill give it a pass if this was R/B/Y kanto because its the first of the series and ofc experimental. the rest especially the firered ver is bad because the road, building, everything looks blocky and stiff.

i like how the region connects and how the travel progresses. feels cohesive in comparison to something like unova being essentially a big circle

you're not really rewarded for exploring. outside of the power plant there's no reason to backtrack anywhere once you have new HMs/items/etc.

Excellent region for the first iteration of the games, although a bit lackluster in ecosystems, especially compared to later generations.

The lategame, when everything opens up. The variety of things to do is quite nice, from the dungeon exploration (Silph, Power Plant, Seafoam Islands, Pokemon Mansion) to the Pokedex filling, it just manages to keep you engaged.

The Safari Zone, fuck that mechanic. Also trying to grind in the Game Corner is a chore.

it's a classic region. i like it desu. however it simply doesn't hold up today and it's a shame they've straight up refused to update Kanto on every subsequent iteration.

Talking about the region itself, it's pretty bland overall. Has a vague level of cohesiveness, but it has no distinct character, something that most other regions manage. It does, however, avoid feeling like a theme park, something that regions like Unova and Kalos fail at.

A single Butterfree.

The premise that Pokemon are still a fairly new discovery. It's been long enough for the world to begin to grow around Pokemon, but they're still new enough to leave a sense of mystery and wonder, and people talk about how the discovery of Pokemon changed their lives for the better.
>What’s your least favorite part of the region?
Tossup between the region itself and the music. Both are painfully average.
>Favorite Pokémon from Kanto?
Tentacruel

Mr. Fuji. I appreciate that, in the earlier games, there wasn't too much confirming that Fuji wrote the notes in Pokemon Mansion (i think, my memory is fuzzy).

The Power Plant. It's ultimately just a power plant, but it being tucked away and hidden as an optional dungeon adds a nice bit of flavour and worldbuilding to the region.
>Favourite OST from Kanto?
If we count remakes, FRLG's Champion theme easily wins, being the best champion theme in the series by a long shot. If we don't, the regular trainer battle or Pokemon Tower.

It's okay, being the first it's the baseline everything else gets compared to.

Venusaur, nidoking, pidgeot, seaking, arcanine, ditto. Not for any particular game/playthrough just the pokemon I have strong memories of using there at some point.

That it gives you some freedom in regards to what order to do some of the gyms.

The unwillingness to expand it and tell a new story there, we got the Sevii Islands and that's it despite the region appearing in 5 mainline releases.

Ditto, my all time top favorite.
>Favorite character from Kanto?
Lt. Surge I guess, outside of the anime I never particularly cared for any of the human characters in Kanto, I just think he's cool and unlike Lance isn't strongly associated with any other region in the games.
>Favorite place from Kanto?
The pokemon mansion, part dungeon part lore dump.
>Favorite OST from Kanto?
Lavender town, one of the most distinct tracks in the whole series but the intro and gym theme are iconic too.

I think it's mediocre. Not atrocious, nothing great. There are some cool pokemon there of course but the region itself is so homogenous and flavorless. I only ever play Pokemon UltraViolet for kanto.

My team usually consists of one of the starters (they're all equal in my opinion), Nidoking, Articuno and Dragonair. Other picks are Porygon, Hitmonlee, Gyrados, Lapras and Rhydon.
>Favorite Part of the Region
I like the SS anne, it's a nice departure from the rest of the game, casual battles at your own leisure. good music too.
>Least favorite part
I hate the safari zone in any game, but this one's the worst due to all the exclusives it has mixed with awful catch rates. For mandatory areas i'd have to go with silph co. I know it like the back of my hand now but it's still shit.
>Favorite Pokemon
Articuno. Has a great sense of majesty and power. I like complicated designs and this is as complex as it gets for G1.
>Favorite Character
The cool guy who has a girlfriend next to bill's house
>Favorite place
SS anne again.
>Favorite OST
Cinnibar Island theme. Puts a warm feeling in my gut, reminds me of vacations i went on as a little kid.

It's my favorite region, that being said I don't really consider myself a genwunner since many of my favorite pokemon come from later regions.

The only kanto game I still own (my FRLG cartridges disappeared years ago so all I have left is Yellow)'s team are the level 100 nidoking and mew since glitching gen 1 is the most fun you can do in the game.

The open ended nature of it. Once you get cut you can just skip Lt.Surge and travel all across the main land area.
