Their is a decent chance of mega returning. Ultra S/M and Let's go further expanded the multiverse lore and has identified seperate universes for where Mega evolution existed and didn't exist. Plus the games also release the years these incident takes place such as ORAS, R/S/E, BW, and X/Y
