Back in 2013, you were not allowed to make a Charizard thread without "hurr sneaky pebbles", you couldn't say that you liked Gen 1 or else you were a nostalgiafag genwunner who needs to go back to facebook.
I've noticed this for a long time, it's very clear that they only hate Kanto & Gen 1 because of annoying people they don't like, not because of good legitimate arguments.
Ever see that "Problems with Gen 1" image? Most people don't care about those things, a lot of them weren't really spread until later games came out, yet it was usually passed around to get a reaction out of people.
Seriously, I have seen way too much of people whining about genwunners, they most certainly don't post on /vp/ unless they're trolls, and many don't understand what a "genwunner" truly is, they disregard EVERYTHING after Gen 1, it has nothing to do with favoring Gen 1 or *gasp* liking the game that started it all.
Pokemon is one of the only franchises where a sizeable chunk of its fanbase shits on their roots, this is why people complain about "HURR GENWUNNER PANDERING" it's because they hate the thought of Gen 1 being even acknowledged what-so-ever.
I honestly find it hard to believe that much of this board even grew up with Gen 1, I don't think those that played it back in 1999 or so thought that they were always shit, /vp/ acts like RBY are some of the worst games of all time, really exposes how black & white the internet is when it comes to their opinions.
