Not at all. You’ll have raging contrarians on 4chan for the first few years it’s out, but it’ll be fondly remembered for its excellent campaign, girthy post game, kino side features, great DLCs that don’t feel like they were taken from a bigger base game, and being the last game ever with all Pokémon in before Dexit becomes harder in subsequent Gens.

And then they destroy the franchise with Gen 9. We were all so hopeful.

Thank god that Platinum is so good (and has phys/spec split), so there’s no real need for a remaster and I don’t really have to care about it if they mess it up. Contrast that to ORAS, that had some direly needed core improvements in comparison to Emerald, but dropped the ball on being the real definitive edition of Hoenn.

They will shoehorn Dynamax into the sinnoh story and give the legendaries Gmax forms for no reason other than because they can.
and then the new lore will be used in the explorers remake and they will fuck that up too

They will probably fix my main gripes with the original games, the slow pacing and the HM spam.
However they will make the game easier and emptier just like SWSH and they will add the Battle Zone as DLC (They won't even add the frontier back)
All of this because they won't have the dev time nor the passion to make a quality product comparable to the originals.

Given that we already know what to expect from LGPE i'm actually hopeful.
The removal of HMs and open-world treatment like what they did with Kanto will do Sinnoh good. I'm sure they'll butcher contests, underground, and the game corner but at least we'll get a definitive version of Sinnoh with better type distribution and QOL.
At the very least, it won't have Dynamax so it'll be at least average no matter how they do it. I think they made it pretty clear after LGPE that they don't want to shove regional gimmicks like Z-Moves or Dynamax in remakes.

Platinum is a phenomenal game, but come on now. Even though it's better than DP in literally every other way people still argue DP are better because of that.
LGDP will fix this, though. So that's a good thing.
