>>45610533Dynamax lets a singles Pokemon kinda compound resources and take off, which is good, tons of singles mechanics already worked that way. Your goal in a singles match is to control tempo and momentum and generally gain turns until your opponent has no recourse to prevent you from blasting through everything they have left with some kind of major threat generally. Sometimes you run some really stall strategy revolving around something like Toxapex in which case your goal is to outmaneuver everything that could possibly kill it until it merely being on the field is checkmate. Dynamax doesn't really break this dynamic at all; it's just another layer to it.
3v3 singles is a great format. It's fast paced and sharp and honestly a ton of different things can work. In team preview, you can usually see which of your Pokemon have good prospects against most of their team and which of your Pokemon they have easier answers for. You're also thinking about how your Pokemon work in combination on your three Pokemon unit versus their field of threats, which of your Pokemon will best be able to snowball to a win with dynamax, and you're doing a little metagaming of what they're likely to bring which can in turn help you figure out movesets in battle by asking questions like "now why would they bring that Pokemon unless it has...".
6v6 of course is patently uncompetitive, but then again, I'm not so sure Smogon was ever about actual competitive gameplay in the first place. It's clear 6v6 singles isn't even designed to be a competitive format in the first place and that's what Smogon is all about. The fact that 6v6 singles is the unquestioned standard format on Smogon kinda makes it clear that, as with all of their other policies, they're just kinda trapped by tradition at this point. Thankfully they mostly don't even play the real game and instead play on fanfic simulators; they make themselves easy to ignore so I just do that.
