DP and Platinum should be separated, DP is harder (not for good reasons tho)

I didn't count postgame, if completion of all postgame was required though I would put Emerald as the hardest game here with trailing HGSS/Platinum and then Orre, BW2, etc...
Also blanket statement for the folks who want DP to be listed as harder - I think Platinum's overall actually tougher bosses evens out the bad regional dex fix. Maybe it might be a little more difficult but not vastly so.

White has a nasty early game up to Elesa/Clay and one of the toughest final bosses in the series. Red is not actually very difficult in comparison other than being very high level.

It's only harder at the league because of the huge level gap. Every gym leader and major trainer has a better team and movesets in Platinum

Pt fixed the awful level scale from Pt.
Pt isn't challenging at all. Found no issue beating it with 0 death's on my blind nuzlocke run.
D/P scales horribly and the Cynthia fight is a fucking slugfest.

all the totem fights in USUM are harder than literally anything I can remember from gen 1-6, so no. Even some of the regular trainer battles are surprisingly difficult like that teacher in the school and illma at the beginning of the game or ultra recon squad with furfrou.

Posting my take. Some notes:

Only BW2 hard more, USM, Emerald(battle Frontier) and DP are hard. The rest literally plays itself.
Colosseum and XD are above them but they not mainline games and not developed by GF.

BW was easy as fuck though. You literally get healed before facing N and Gethis. After going through the E4. Which no Pokemon ever did. Cause Alder ain't harder than Red in HGSS if we factor level scaling.

Zekrom and Reshiram effectively cancel each other out in the N fight and Ghetsis's Hydreigon rips it apart for free if the Cofagrigus doesn't kill it.

Ghetsis is not an issue if you have Zekrom or Reshiram, neither is N. You will always win the speed tie and get rid of his legendary with no issue.

I always found Johto to be the most difficult (for a Pokemon game). Whitney, Morty and Clair are the hardest gym leaders in any Pokemon game. Morty's Gengar just one shots everything with shadow ball (there's a reason they made Fantina's Gengar physical), and Kingra has such an annoying typing and just spams very strong attacks, I always win by stalling out's it's moves, since they all have low pp thankfully. As for whitney you've heard about her a billion times.
