Yes. Yellow's upgraded movesets seem like a minor difference but they're actually pretty noticeable from a playthrough standpoint. Don't use Pikachu though.

I'd go for Red/Blue over Yellow since it's a more normal experience. If by "1st Gen" you just mean Kanto, though, FRLG works fine too

It doesn't. Yellow has an edge because you can get all 3 starters in a single playthrough.
Yellow totals 129 obtainable Pokemon against Red/Blue's 124.

I always found the raichu design better to pikachu.
Instead pikachu got all the fame and we're stuck with GF having to suck the pikadick for it.
Also alolan raichu is an atrocity.
