I think this line of thinking is what got us the alola dex descriptions, people taking the bond thing too lightly and not realizing what shit goes on when you mega evolve a pokemon without it trusting you enough, the bond is probably what "filters" the bad effects, which is probably why kalos and hoenn beat you over the head with it

Now shittermons like Sableye will never be allowed to permanently be good on it's own without mega evolution, because getting a mega means it will never get a proper evolution or a stat rework. And legendaries with Megas are fucking stupid because legendaries are already Uber poweful.

Shouldn’t dynamax be considered a bad thing because trainers are using the energy of a trapped alien for their amusement. What if it’s in pain whenever dynamax happens? What if eternatus just wants to go home but a couple of wolves keep it from leaving? So many things they could’ve done to make the Pokémon ‘antagonist’ more than just a monster to beat and capture.

/vp/ likes megas so its pretty common for people to shit on megas just to troll. That being said OP is actually right, it's a pretty silly oversight especially since it debuted in the gen where we got another system of tracking Pokemon happiness. Pokemon has a lot of lore/gameplay disconnects but that doesn't mean GF should dig themselves further

That's pretty much confirmed to be the case in the anime at least, if the bond between trainer and Pokemon isn't strong enough, the Pokemon will go berserk when it Mega Evolves

Not all of the Alola dex descriptions mention them going berserk though, most of them are just side effects of a forced unnatural transformation

Kalos Pokemon didn't get any megas outside of Diancie because they didn't want to design new Pokemon that would feel "incomplete" without their megas. I think that's an understandable approach, and it also feels like some Gen 8 designs with G-Maxes fell into exactly that trap so I believe it was the right decision. It's just such a fucking shame that they force Lucario on you as the first mega.

Also, you guys realize the Lucario is optional right? You can totally leave it at the top of the tower, it's just the game will try to guilt you into taking it and I think most people just assumed they wouldn't actually let you say no. But you can.

There's hundreds of Pokemon. Most of them are always going to be outclassed. No matter what. That's just an intrinsic flaw of the game and has been there since the beginning.If nothing is banned, the only viable things would be legendaries and mons with specialized utility roles.
Mega Beedrill is among those outclassed mons, but the fact that it's only 2 tiers below the legendary tier while its base form is literally worthless means quite a bit.
