>>45630574It's not a meme, XY had a lot of BW's DNA right down to the progression, map design, and the greater focus on making the player feel like they're on an adventure with their own group of friends. Unfortunately it was rushed and incomplete due to GF being completely new to 3D games.
This is not me saying it's better than or even as good as BW, only that it very clearly tried to move in the same direction. But then the franchise got handed off to Ohmori and here we are today, where XY marks the straight decline of the franchise instead of simply a bump in the road or some growing pains.
Also don't fool yourself, the animated sprites were cool but a lot of them were in some really bland poses compared to older sprites because of it. Most of the pre-Unova Pokemon reused old sprites as a base, too. XY's models were worse, but the cracks were already showing in BW. Just sayin'.
