These numbers do not really have any gameplay significance since stat spread is more important than BST, though it is interesting that the three quadrupedal grass starters have the lowest overall.

Venusaur is the best of the Kanto starters, Rillaboom is OU, and Contrary Serperior is pretty good. Grass doesn't have it that bad.

Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise actually did have the same BST in gen 1, 425.

530 across the board is best for balance i think though allocation of stats will always be more important than the numbers they add up to, hence why venusaur is the best kanto starter competitively despite being lower than both of it’s counterparts

Fire types almost always have shitty movepools. What moves does greninja learn that don’t suit it?
I think protean was given to greninja later on but I don’t think it was designed for delphox first at all. And magician does suit magic themed pokemon, it’s sleight of hand.

Every single one is too high. Starters should have had their BST lowered across the board to be equivalent to the pikachu line (485).
If starters were weaker, people would be encourage to go and adventure to catch pokemon and build a personalized and unique team that is truly their own and not just mash through everything with an overleveled starter just like everyone else.
