Despite SWSH being an OK game at best with shit story, I still would rather replay it over the Alola games (insane amount of unskippable cutscenes) or DPPt (General slowness and HM managing)

I prefer the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games over the mainline games.

I've been watching that new Digimon Adventure anime and it made me realize something. Talking monsters are more memorable and have more personality than pokemon that just say their own names. So the talking pokemon in PMD are more likable characters imo than any pokemon from the mainline games.

Ultra beasts are a cool concept with shit execution. Most of them are overdesigned trash. I get they are supposed to look weird because they are from another plane of existence or whatever but that doesn't really change my opinion, especially when the game treats them like a standard mythical or legendary anyway. I don't like how the game insists they aren't pokemon but then they can be registered in the dex and caught with balls anyway so what's the point. If you are gonna introduce a weird concept like this make catching and interacting with them unique instead of handing the player a special pokeball and calling it a day.

Gen 7 has some of the most likeable characters. Because it gives a little more characterization to a lot of its characters than normal. It has a boatload of other problems though, I will give you that.

Starters shouldn't be strong pokemon. All of them should be more in line with the pikachu line in terms of strength. If starters weren't as good, players would be incentivized to either play more tactically or actually go catch pokemon in the wild and make a unique team to overcome the challenges they face. It feels very unearned to have one of the better, if not one of the best non-legendary pokemon in the game handed to you for free at the very start. It takes away some of the excitement and progression of catching and training up new pokemon, because you already just got one at the very start.
The quality of starters is at least partially responsible for most players simply mashing through the games with them brainlessly and missing most of the other features. Players getting used to mashing through everything with their starter risks them becoming conditioned to finding answers to problems besides just grinding their starter high enough to beat any obstacle. Which in turn stops them from engaging with the fundamental aspects of the game (exploration, catching new pokemon, strategic battles).

I feel like icy wind is used often enough. Shuca rachi could use it to punish gliscor, garchomp, and lando-t in gen 5. It was pretty useful especially in scenarios where garchomp tanked your first icy wind with yache he'd be slow enough for you to force him out with the threat of a second icy wind. It can also be helpful on pokemon like keldeo to make sure dragonite doesn't use multiscale to set up in your face.
And in vgc icy wind and electroweb as a minor form of speed control aren't particularly rare sights either.

No. Gen 8 removed more than half of all pokemon and added only some of them back through paid DLC. Gen 8 is the worst gen for living dex fags. I hate to say this because I know it's been regurgitated so many times but I don't care it's a valid criticism
