Froakie gets my obligatory hate for being a water type but its design is way better than other shit water starters
Fennekin and its line are exclusively yiff bait
Chesnaught and quilladin fuck, the other evolutions aren’t worth remembering for me

this set was a weird one because I usually change my mind on the starters over time, but from day one I really liked froakie. still don't like greninja a ton though.

At first I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting Gen 6 so soon; 3 and 4 lasted about 4 years each with tons of spinoffs, and then 5 felt so short-lived in comparison.

Anyway, I liked Froakie, was neutral on Fennekin, and despised Chespin. After seeing the final evos when the game came out, I felt the same; Greninja is cool, Delphox is ok, and Chesnaught is the ugliest piece of garbage I’ve seen come out of a starter line.

Instantly disliked Chespin, thought Froakie was okay, and instantly loved Fennekin, since foxes are my favourite animal. I don't like how big its head is, though. I was extremely disappointed in its evolutions becoming two legged.

I have always kind of disliked Greninja for it not really looking like it's related at all to Froakie and Frogadier. I thought the final evolution would have been a frog on a cloud like the frog Gods from The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker.

As for Quilladin, it's horribly ugly and I don't really care for Chesnaught,

I thought they looked pretty cool, was going to pick Fennekin but then I saw what it evolved into and decided to go with Chespin because its final evo reminded me of terriermon

I like Fennekin when I first see it and was going to choose it, but then I see its evolution. After seeing Chespin's final evo, I chose it and just endure the ugliness of Quilladin until it evolve. Froakie line is only one with good designs, but I don't really care about frogs and I want to choose fire or grass starter after Oshawott last gen.
It's only gen where I don't care about any of starters.

I was disappointed that Frogadier ditch the mustache and then Greninja ditched the bubble cloud scarf but he turned out better than the other two by design to me.

Fennekin is aesthetically the best of the three until they start evolving. I always had a feeling that froakie would turn into something cool though. After I saw frogadier and braixen I knew I was going with froakie.

Chespin and Delphox are still good too though. I like all three starters for Kalos.

then they evolved and became abominations, all 3. Chesnaught is ugly and shit, delphox a disgusting furry and greninja's tongue scarf bothered me to no end (although the design itself was good)

today I like greninja a decent amount, but still think it would be better without the tongue scarf. The other 2 are still piles of shit.

This, once the new gen is annonuced I try my best to avoid all spoilers, usually blocking discord and /vp/ until launch. But the starters are unavoidable, seeing their evos is definitly something to avoid as much as possible.
