The more options a game offers, the deeper it is. In VGC, with having 4 moves for 4 mons in doubles, it mathematically works out to having up to 100 options to choose from in a turn.
Oh wait, forgot to include dynamax, it's actually 196 (and people will STILL say its a bad mechanic).
Compare this to the gold standard for turn-based gaming: Chess. At the start of a chess match you only have 14 options to choose from. As the pawns start moving out of the way you have more options to work with, but because you only move 1 piece at a time, it never reaches VGC's peak of 196 options because there you move 2 "pieces". VGC is just objectively deeper than Chess and the best way to play Pokemon. The only PvP strategy game that can compare to VGC is Go, but even that game has become solved by computers because there's no luck element to shake up matches and test your risk management skills.
