Nidoking was designed to only look good at specific angles, since it was drawn as a sprite initially. The design just doesn’t work in 3D. Even back in stadium it looked retarded as fuck.

What a fucking retard, that art was used for one game. The RG design is the canon design, and is used in basically every other art and game. I almost feel like they tried to redesign Pokemon for a western audience with the Blue designs, which is pretty fucking soulless from my perspective.

That's just Bulbapedo messing shit up. The artwork in OP was not for blue but for the April 1997 TCG sets, 4 months after Blue was even released. Nothing to do with Blue or it's western release at all.
