>>45652210>TransferOH, you've been discussing playing on the virtual console. In that scenario, I understand the utility you see in accessing older gens on a new console. I play physical copies, so they're just kind of locked off in games that are incapable of trading/transferring between gens, making the utility of playing them only enjoying the games themselves (which I personally prefer the remakes for pure gameplay).
>>45652394>FRLG have ugly graphics, but I'll give a pass for RBY due to technical constraintsI understand the logic you're using but the catch-all "ugly graphics" is odd to me. The games look fine enough for me, what bothers you about them?
>Battle mechanicsI personally don't place much value in EV training in the base games, as I never did competitive battling and there's neither a requirement nor a reward for maxing EVs or resetting for natures (with the latter being a quick process if you really care that much, and the former entirely manageable, again, if you care that much). I understand valuing that you can just train everything passively in gen 1, but I have never found EV spreads to be an essential component for playing the game - type matchups are sufficient to beat the game with almost any non-meme team comp.
>Sevii IslandsI actually like them as well, I just detest how half-assed they feel. Their saving grace is that they are completely optional (save for getting Moltres + Rock Smash), so on playthroughs I don't want to do them, I don't have to.
