What's the best method for xp before you're Champion?
I'm up to where I can go through the wormholes but before Necrozma.

put them on the training island and let them gain exp
or just pet and feed them a lot and do battles

Yep, that's it, those are the highest level mons in the game before the league, level 60s. You can still fight some trainers before you get to the league though, in victory road. You also fight Gladion which will probably net you good XP.

That can't be the most efficient way, though. You can knock off many 1000xp dudes in the time it would take you to get one of those wormhole dudes.
Unless you can SOS chain in wormhole encounters?
